SMS Terms & Opt-In Disclosure

This page describes how Skillme business owners and their customers exchange SMS messages, how consent is collected, and how to opt out at any time.

1. Program description

Skillme is a business management app used by independent service professionals — including detailers, mobile mechanics, cleaners, lawn care providers, handymen, pet groomers, mobile beauty professionals, and notaries. Skillme allows these business owners to send transactional and conversational SMS to their own customers, including booking confirmations, appointment reminders, invoices, receipts, and replies to customer inquiries.

2. How customers opt in

Web opt-in (primary). When a customer books a service on a business owner’s public Skillme booking page (https://getskillme.com/b/<slug>), the customer enters their mobile number and checks a consent box that reads:

“I agree to the cancellation and deposit policy. By providing my mobile number, I also agree to receive transactional SMS messages related to my booking, including confirmations, reminders, and booking-related replies. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”

Keyword opt-in. A customer can text START to the business’s number to begin receiving messages, or to resume messages after a prior opt-out.
Verbal / written opt-in. A business owner may collect verbal or written consent in person and manually add the customer in the Skillme app. The business owner attests to having obtained consent before any message is sent.

3. Message types & frequency

Message frequency varies based on the customer’s activity with the business. Typical volume is 2–6 messages per booking lifecycle.

4. Opt-out

Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT at any time to stop receiving messages from a business. The customer will receive a single confirmation:

“You have been unsubscribed from <Business Name>. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resume.”

5. Help

Reply HELP for help. The customer will receive:

“<Business Name>: Booking, reminders & receipts via SMS. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies. Reply STOP to opt out. Support: <business phone>. Terms: getskillme.com/sms-terms.html”

6. Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Skillme does not charge for SMS, but the customer’s mobile carrier may.

7. Supported carriers

All major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and most MVNOs. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

8. Privacy

Mobile numbers and consent records are stored only for the purpose of operating the business’s SMS communications with its own customers. Mobile information is not shared or sold to third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
